The first higher education unit established in Şanlıurfa is Şanlıurfa Vocational School (1976). (It was separated into two: Department of Social and Technical Sciences Vocational School in 2011). Then, Faculty of Agriculture dependent on Dicle University (1978), Department of Civil Engineering (1984) and Faculty of Theology dependent on Gaziantep University (1988) were established. These units are connected to Harran University with the law numbered 3837 dated 09.07.1992. In addition, Science-Literature, Faculty of Medicine, Sanliurfa Health Services Vocational School, Social Sciences, Science and Health Sciences found in the establishment law.
 
   Siverek, Hilvan, Suruç, Birecik, Viranşehir and Bozova Vocational Schools in 1994; in 1995, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and Akçakale and Ceylanpınar Vocational Schools; in 1997, the School of Health and the Kahta Vocational School were established. However, Kahta Vocational High School was admitted to Adıyaman University, which was established with the law number 5467 dated 01.03.2006.

   According to the decision of the Council of Ministers published in the Official Newspaper dated 29.07.2007 and numbered 26597, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Fine Arts and School of Tourism and Hotel Management were established. The School of Physical Education and Sports was established in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 02.11.2007 and numbered 2007/12786, published in the Official Newspaper dated 05.12.2007 and numbered 26721. In 2011, the State  


  Conservatory was established with the decision of YÖK. Finally, with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 24.05.2012 and numbered 2012/3243, School of Foreign Language was established. Today, our university continues its activities with 10 Faculties, 5 Colleges, 1 State Conservatory, 11 Vocational Schools, 3 Institutes, 15 Research and Application Centers.
